ARTS IN HEALTH

Administrator, Author, Performer

Katie White Swanson completed studies in the Arts in Healthcare Management program at the University of Oregon as part of a Supporting Area in Arts Administration concurrent with doctoral studies in Viola Performance. While enrolled, Katie began work on the first geographic map of the Arts in Health field in the United States. This map led to their terminal research thesis, "Mapping the Arts in Healthcare Field in the United States", as well as a chapter in the book Managing Arts Programs in Healthcare (ed. Lambert, 2015). She was also a member of the author team for the 2017 white paper "Arts, Health, and Well-Being in America" commissioned by the National Organization for Arts in Health. 

Katie assisted a steering committee in the founding efforts of the National Organization for Arts in Health in 2015. As the organization developed, her position expanded and she served as the Administrator for the organization from 2016--2018, stepping into the role of Strategic Operations Manager in 2019. Katie served as Project Manager for NOAH through 2020, administering the development of a core curriculum for artists working in healthcare settings.  

Katie also has experience performing in healthcare and community wellness settings as a solo and chamber musician.
