Death Doula

As a musician playing viola in hospitals, KT frequently encountered patients and their loved ones and caregivers who were having difficult, dehumanizing experiences.

There was medicalized death, loss of autonomy, caregiver burnout, and more. There was also incredible beauty in the love and care that humans can show each other in times of difficulty and transition.

Feeling called to serving community this way, KT took death doula training courses with Alua Arthur at Going With Grace. They supported  individuals and their loved ones facing difficult prognoses as a volunteer with End of Life Choices Oregon.

KT is a musician and artist for community grief and death support, and currently works in administration at an end of life residence. She has a passion for using the arts in memorial, helping others distill their artistic legacies, and building artful environments for community care.
